It’s often overwhelming when you begin attending a church to know how to get connected. We developed these steps to better facilitate that process. We aren’t suggesting you must do all the “First Steps” before you do the “Second Steps” or the “Second” before the “Third.” Rather, these steps are a pathway to involvement, which can be walked at your own pace and in your own order.
First Steps
Attend a Worship Service.
Attend one rotation of Fusion. Fusion is a short term Adult Bible Fellowship for those new to the church. It is offered several times throughout the year. Watch the bulletin or website for the next rotation.
Attend the Newcomer’s Class. This one time only class describes the vision, values and beliefs of the church. It is essential for those considering membership. It is offered once a month. Watch the bulletin for the next class or contact the church office, 297.4079.
Subscribe to the “Church Update.” It’s an email based church newsletter that normally addresses special needs and opportunities for service. Contact robinc@wdbc.net to subscribe.
Find a place to volunteer in the church °Choir is open to all youth and adults. Contact Elaine Winniford at either 297.3554 or winniford1@peoplepc.com. °Greeter ministry is open to all adults. Join a small group and/or medium sized group °Begin attending an ABF (Sunday School class), which is a medium sized group. ABFs are groups of 15 – 35 believers who gather at 9:45 AM on Sundays to study the Bible and fellowship with one another. They are great gateways into the life of the church. Contact Cliff Moore at either 480.0481 or aggieredfish@sbcglobal.net. °Participate in a rotation of Life In The Spirit (LITS). LITS is a medium sized group whose purpose is to train believers in how to pray for the sick, hear the voice of God and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. Watch the bulletin for the next rotation, which will probably begin September 2008. °Attend a rotation of Alpha. Alpha is a short term group of 10-20 people. Its focus is to help participants better understand the essentials of the Christian life. Contact Pastor Scott at either 297.4079 or scott@wdbc.net. °Visit a small group. Small groups are gatherings of 4 – 12 people who meet together regularly to either study the Bible, and/or pray for and encourage one another.
